As Apple ends the fourth quarter with a lack of new Macbook news, rumors speculate that the new MacBook Pro debut may have been delayed.

Needless to say, Apple has had a busy year this 2022. The tech giant released the updated MacBook Air M2, the iPad Air 5 with M1, the tough Apple Watch Ultra, the iPhone 14 Pro with its new Dynamic Island, and more. Additionally, users received numerous software updates such as the iPadOS 16, which now enables resizeable app windows, and the iOS 16 for smartphone devices.

In general, Apple has had a successful year in terms of technology, whether in the software or hardware categories. However, something may still be missing in its Macbook models before the year ends.

Apple Breaks New Macbook Model Trend Since 2000

According to MacRumors, beginning in 2001 with the introduction of the iBook G3, Apple has historically introduced at least one new Mac model every year in the fourth quarter, which spans from October to December.

This trend implies that a new Mac has always been released at the end of the year for the duration of the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch product lines. The M2 MacBook Air, which debuted on July 15, is Apple's most recent Mac. The period following the release of the MacBook Air may rank among the longest stretches without any new Mac models at all, depending on how long Apple takes to introduce its next Mac.

As 2022 comes to a close, it is now almost certain that the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models have been significantly delayed, contrary to widespread rumors that they will be released before the end of the year, a timeline that seemed to be backed by certain mass production projections.

Apple Macbook Rumors for 2023

The lack of news on a new Macbook model may be related to a recent rumor when Korean blogger "yeux1122" identified a supply chain source and said that the upgraded 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models would not go on sale until around March of next year, according to a past report from MacRumors.

Apple analysts anticipated that the tech brand would update the M1 model of the Mac Mini this year, but that did not happen. Now, XDA-Developers suggest that a new model will have a 2023 release. The next Mac Mini might debut next year with a slimmer design and one of the M2 chips.

Since the Mac Studio is still a new product and Apple probably needs more time to build a hypothetical M2 Ultra processor, the gadget might not receive an upgrade until 2023.

Additionally, when the M3 chips are ready, which is likely in 2023, it has been speculated that Apple will begin using the new 3nm technology, but other reports have stated that this new process may also be utilized for the M2 Pro and other variations.

However, tech fans should still take these rumors with a grain of salt as no official confirmations have been made by Apple on their 2023 move for the Macbook line.
