So you might want to wait for this before rewatching your favorite Marvel movies in a taller aspect ratio, replicating what IMAX viewers saw.

Disney Plus IMAX Enhanced Marvel Films to Gain New DTS Audio

As per the latest report by The Verge, Disney has been offering various movies in IMAX Enhanced format. It is taller than the usual aspect ratio. So, it slightly differs from the usual viewing experience.

Essentially, it is like bringing the IMAX experience to the confines of your home. Do note that it is currently only limited to the aspect ratio.

But soon enough, the streaming service says that the IMAX Signature sound by DTS is coming. Its arrival should help further replicate the IMAX experience.

The Verge notes that the new audio option seeks to preserve "the full dynamic range of the original mix."

Meanwhile, according to a news story by Engadget, the DTS audio supports a higher bitrate than the usual Dolby Atmos.

It is hard to tell what actually sets the new audio option apart. Disney kept mum about the specifics of what it offers. But given that it is about to roll out this year, it might not take long before we see it ourselves.

New IMAX Signature Audio Requires Compatible Devices

However, it is important to note that the new audio option coming to Disney Plus is only available to select devices.

Although the IMAX Enhanced format works on all Disney+ supported devices, the new audio option needs compatible TVs and speakers.

Engadget says that it works with TVs from Hisense and Sony as long as they are "IMAX Enhanced-certified."

Given that, if you have TVs at home that are not IMAX Enhanced-certified you might be out of luck unless you have AV receivers that support it.

The streaming giant says that some receivers from JBL, Denon, and Marantz support the upcoming DTS option.
