This means that Chinese buyers need to wait longer before they can receive their EV units. 

Although the long wait times are bad news for buyers, enthusiasts said it is good for the EV maker. 

If you are a Chinese resident who purchased your own Tesla Model Y, here's how you should wait. 

Tesla Model Y Wait Times Increase Happens in China! 

Previously, the wait times for Tesla Model Y and Model X orders in China were between one to four weeks, as reported by Reuters.

However, the EV maker's official website changed this estimate on Monday, Jan. 9.

As of writing, the wait time for Tesla Model Y orders is between two to five months. 

This is one week longer compared to the recent wait time. 

When it comes to Model 3, Tesla's page still states that the wait time would take around one to four weeks. 

This is also the wait time for the Tesla Model Y performance version. 

Enthusiasts said that the long wait times show that the demand for Tesla EVs in China is increasing. 

If this is true, then the price cuts conducted by the automaker are effective.  

Can You Reduce Tesla Order Wait Times? 

Recently, Drive Tesla Canada reported that consumers could reduce Tesla order wait times. 

The tips provided by the source were able to reduce the delivery time by months, around three months. 

But before trying these methods, you must remember that they are not 100% efficient. These tips will also require you to pay more; 

• Purchase a Tesla EV with a non-standard paint color. 
• Purchase a Tesla EV with upgraded wheels. 
• Purchase a Tesla EV with a tow hitch. 
• Purchase a Tesla EV with the Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature.

Reducing its EV prices is not the only effort Tesla makes to attract more consumers. 

Recently, the automaker decided to bring back the round Tesla Model X steering wheels.
