Sony PS5 Restock Suffered During the Chip Shortage
Since the launch of the PS5, Sony has been struggling to deal with the demand for the console as buyers have been left with little to no choice but to purchase the console from resellers at a higher price. Now, the situation has recovered, and buyers can finally purchase the console close to its SRP.
One major reason Sony struggled to deal with the demand was not because of price but because of the chip shortage. The chip shortage limited the supply of semiconductors that Sony could get, which was needed in producing the PlayStation 5 console.
Resellers Were Profiting Out of the Limited PS5 Restock Supply
The supply backlog left buyers no choice but to purchase the expensive console from resellers. As reported by Video Games Chronicle, some of these resellers were even able to sell hundreds of thousands of consoles, with one reporting they sold 130,000 PS5s.
During the semiconductor shortage, reselling PS5s and Xbox Series Xs became lucrative as buyers had little to no choice but to purchase from these resellers. Luckily, the situation has eased as the PS5 can easily be spotted at Walmart with stock available.

Buyers will no longer have to purchase either jacked-up PS5 models or second-hand deals, as they can purchase the console at its SRP and with bundles. The consoles also come directly from Sony, so buyers do not have to worry about warranties or other concerns.

Although a bit more expensive, buyers can also choose the PS5 Digital Edition God of War Ragnarok Bundle, which costs $589. This is still close to the original price, with only a little increase for the 'God of War Ragnarok' bundle.
