Recalled Apple HomeKit Architecture Update Returns in iOS 16.4 Update

The recalled Apple HomeKit upgrade is now here. MacRumors has confirmed that Apple is getting ready to relaunch its improved version of the HomeKit architecture in the next iOS 16.4 update.

The Cupertino-based company initially released the updated Home architecture in iOS 16.2 back in December 2022 but was forced to pull it a week later because of numerous issues and bugs. They have since promised that they will release it in the future.

HomeKit Upgrade Recall

Apple decided to add the Home app update to its internal database of hardware and software issues back in December, which is a rare move for a software-related problem.

The list, which is used by Apple, Apple Stores, and authorized service providers, typically include key customer issues, with the majority of these being hardware-related. The inclusion of the Home app update on this list suggested that Apple was deeply concerned about the issues caused by the update.

Amid the setback, Apple has continued to work on the update, and backend codes now suggest that it will return with the release of iOS 16.4, starting with the first beta that is expected to arrive this week.
