The world of 3D printing has come quite a long way in its years of innovation, allowing concepts from the mind to find physicality with the right equipment. CES 2023 brought its fair share of 3D printing upgrades with the likes of Artisan's 3-in-1 printer, the first AI-integrated option by Kokoni, and plenty more. But only recently, the world bore witness to the smallest 3D printing device designed by a relatively small YouTube creator.

The channel in question, titled My N Mi, wields a total of 2.26 thousand subscribers with several videos dated from a month prior focusing on small DIY 3D printers. While only some hover around two thousand views, the most recent upload sits at a whopping 155 thousand. The creator's supposed smallest 3D printer in the world is about the same size as a British pound, about 0.7 x 1.2 x 1.6 inches, as presented in the video's featured image. It weighs no more than 17 grams.

The creator boasts that the 3D printer works as intended, though restrained only by some necessary factors given its size. Due to this, it can only deliver builds at a volume of 11 x 11 x 17 nm, but that shouldn't be dissuasive of the potential of its creation. Leveraging a tiny motor that moves the build plate while an LED stamps light on the resin, the 3D printer spits out its tiny creations with relative ease.

My N Mi shows off a small action figure created by the device. Despite the almost microscopic size of the creation, its printed projects still feature an immense variety of details, making the 3D printer itself rather interesting in the face of the industry. Sure, it won't be able to print record amounts of designs like other rivals, but this small 3D printer is still quite remarkable given its minuscule scale.

There are several small 3D printers out there, but most can cost a ton of money, like Prusa's $459 Mini+, or the $200 Monoprice Mini Delta V2. My N Mi's creation, though incredibly and maybe even somewhat unnecessarily small, could prove promising due to this form factor and DIY properties. After all, 3D printing and DIY projects kind of go hand in hand.

While the creator hasn't yet released a video following up on their new creation, and the immense amount of views they have amassed, many are hoping they give a bit of a better rundown on how the full project operates. Who knows, maybe someday someone will make a 3D printer that's even smaller, maybe the size of an ant? Hopefully, upgrades to the existing one will allow it to print larger volumes, but it's a bit tricky to make that work at that size.

The world of 3D printing remains in awe of My N Mi's design. Be sure to check out their channel as we all await with bated breaths to see what more fascinating developments are in store.
