Many screenshots of the enhancement were already leaked on Twitter. If this is true, then there's a chance that the upgrade could attract more users, especially since BeReal is a popular app.

For those who are not familiar with BeReal, it is an app that encourages sharing unedited images with other users.

In short, BeReal is about sharing authentic moments with friends and families. This is also the main goal of the new Messenger feature.

Facebook Messenger's BeReal-Like Feature Now Tested

According to Tech Crunch's latest report, the new Messenger feature was first spotted by Matt Navarra, a social media consultant.

He shared the screenshot of the enhancement called "Roll Call" on Wednesday, Feb. 22. As of writing, Meta hasn't shared any comment regarding the newly leaked in-app enhancement.

Since the Roll Call is still considered an internal prototype, its public release is still uncertain.

There's also a chance that the new Roll Call feature shown in Navarra's screenshots could still change in appearance and functionality if ever Meta completes it.

How Roll Call Works

Via his official Twitter posts, Matt Navarra explained how the new Roll Call feature works and what it looks like in its current state.

In his screenshots, you can see that the Roll Call's logo includes two boxes overlapping each other; the one behind has a smiley face while the other in front has a plus sign.

Unlike BeReal, the new Messenger feature is used in group chats. All GC members will be able to see the shared Roll Call images and videos.

To give you an example, you can use the Roll Call feature to ask your friends and families to show their breakfast. They can send images or videos by clicking your Roll Call post in the group chat.

Your Roll Call post will only be deleted once all their replies have been unsent. Only you can see their replies.

Matt Navarra also shared another screenshot to show Meta's description of the new Messenger feature.

"Roll Call helps people share authentic moments with friends and family in Messenger group chats," said the tech firm.
