A new tweet from a famed leaker, No Name, claims that Samsung is looking into upgrading its foldable with a "dust resistance" feature for this year's release. It will center on its featured device, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which will feature the Samsung version of the "droplet hinge" that another known foldable maker, Oppo, popularized.

The droplet hinge is iconic to foldable smartphones as it features a "gapless" design, meaning that it would not accumulate dirt and have better water resistance placed on the device.

The leaker also claimed that Samsung would feature a lighter Z Fold 5, significantly lighter than the Z Fold 4 by 9 to 12 grams.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 to Also Upgrade Hinge

No Name added that Samsung was looking for a way to make foldable "dust proof certified," or at least apply for smartphone certification. This change would also focus on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, the vertical folding version of its display expanding lineup.

The Z Flip 5 will reportedly feature a new hinge to upgrade its features and better the experience with its almost gapless design, soon to arrive later this year.

Samsung's Galaxy Foldables

Samsung has a significant development of the world's Galaxy folding smartphones that have been widely available since 2019, with the first release of the Galaxy Z Fold, which was a controversial one. All issues aside, the foldable proved its durability and features, and we are now looking into a better hinge for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The goal is to improve the smartphone's water and dust resistance features, and the key is to adopt a new "droplet hinge" that leakers claimed would be available on their next release.

There are also perceivable differences in Samsung's vertical folding device, the Galaxy Z Flip 4, when it transitioned from 2021's Z Flip 3, featuring better features than their predecessors.

It will soon be the fifth era of these folding smartphones from Samsung, and it only shows that time flies significantly as the public, back then, had a negative connotation on folding smartphones. The upcoming upgrades for the smartphones will bring better features for the devices come to their release date later this year, with the latest foldable leading the charge for Samsung.
