As work-life continues within people's homes and video chat programs, Microsoft is providing one more way for people to stay connected to their colleagues by releasing video filters for Teams meetings.

Enhance Video Calls with New Microsoft Teams Filters

This artificial intelligence feature allows users to add animations and effects to their feeds before joining meetings in the lobby. As of press time, these filters are only available in the desktop version of Teams and are rolling out to everyone, enabled by default.

According to the story by XDA-Developers, Microsoft recently launched a new feature in its Teams platform that has the potential to enrich and liven up video calls with colleagues. Video filters in Microsoft Teams have begun to roll out and have been enabled by default.

How to Choose and Apply Video Filters in Microsoft Teams

These come in many forms, from animated styles to filters that can change the hue of your video feed. Similar to choosing backgrounds to customize your meeting, users can apply various video filters in the Teams desktop version on Windows and macOS before joining the call.

Video filters can also be chosen during the meeting in the "more video effects" area. The technology behind the video filters is powered by artificial intelligence and the Teams Platform infrastructure.

Spatial Audio to Make Conversations More Balanced

Microsoft unveiled a few of these effects in their first-party app, Custom Filters, and plans to launch more soon. Admins can rest assured for those concerned with privacy, as they will have full control to disable or enable the video filter feature in the Teams admin console.

On another note, those using Teams in education won't be able to access video filters just yet, though Microsoft plans to make it available soon. Microsoft has also mentioned they are working on their own version of spatial audio in Teams, which will make online conversations sound more balanced, as though people were in the same room together.

Experience Customizable Video Filters and Spatial Audio on Microsoft Teams

This feature is currently in the Microsoft 365 roadmap and should be released later in May. Since video conferencing has become the cornerstone of our lives due to the pandemic, being able to customize a Teams meeting with video filters is awesome.

This new feature will make calls much more exciting for all users and can be a great way to ensure that colleagues don't get too bored in long meetings. Be sure to look for the new video filters and spatial audio features in the upcoming weeks.

Adding Excitement and Engagement to Meeting Calls with Microsoft Teams

As of press time, those in education have similar restrictions; however, Microsoft is currently working on support for spatial audio in the Teams desktop app, and expectations are that this should be coming later in May.

Microsoft's focus on the Teams platform is a great way to add excitement and engagement to meeting calls. With video filters and spatial audio, users can now have the option to sound and look more present and interactive in meetings.
