Arkane Studios has yet to release its upcoming vampire shooting video game "Redfall" for PS5.

However, it appears that the new title won't be launching for the PlayStation platform anytime soon after the game director claims that Microsoft has already canceled it.

Instead, "Redfall" will be available later this year, but on different platforms including Windows PC and Xbox.

Arkane Studios director Harvey Smith says that the PS5 version of "Redfall" is on the way, but Microsoft chooses to cancel it.

According to Kotaku, the initial plan of Arkane Studios is to launch the ported "Redfall" to PS5, but it did not happen following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, its parent firm.

At that time, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer mentioned that the Redmond giant won't "take games away from another player base." It turns out that this is just wrong on all levels.

As per IGN SEA, Arkane's director Harvey Smith told IGN France that when Microsoft bought the game studio, it was a "huge sea change" on their part.

While Microsoft intends to release "Redfall" on Xbox, PC, and Game Pass, there was no clear indication that it will be available on PlayStation 5, as well.

"Support from Game Pass and have to worry about one less platform, one less complexity. And Game Pass has a ton of people that can play. It could be our biggest game ever because of the 30 million Game Pass [members] or whatever that number is," Smith said.

Why resort to cutting Redfall in PS5?

According to Smith, not allowing "Redfall" to thrive in Sony's platform meant that Microsoft shouldn't need to worry about "one less platform."

Smith adds that "Redfall" could be a staple for GamePass thanks to Microsoft's blessings. This could be a big title that 30 million users can access in the future.

NME reports that Smith's statement came after Microsoft announced that it won't cancel other major game titles including "Call of Duty." At that time, the company has yet to wait for the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Introducing the popular first-person shooter game means that Microsoft will expand it to other platforms such as Nintendo. In line with the agreement, there was a 10-year deal to bring this title to Nintendo consoles.

Redfall Launch Date

The upcoming co-op shooter game is expected to arrive on May 2, 2023. If you are fond of vampire games, you will definitely love this title.

You can explore a lot of tools for your character on "Redfall" including arcane magic, stealth, arrow, and more. Your goal is to save the people from a community living in the darkness-- a dangerous place that is heavily infested by vampires.

With the likely release of "Redfall" on Steam and Xbox, PlayStation fans who are waiting to play the game will be left with no choice of exploring other vampire games.
