Ram Trucks announced that it is officially working on its second mid-size electric vehicle pickup, only months after revealing Ram 1500 REV as its first electric truck earlier this year. As per the reports, the second vehicle resembles the Ram Revolution concept.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JANUARY 05: The front of Stellantis' Ram 1500 Revolution battery-electric concept pickup truck is shown as the vehicle is introduced during a keynote address by Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavaras during CES 2023 at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas on January 05, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ram's Second Electric Truck

After experiencing success with the Ram 1500 Revolution, Ram is already working on its next project, a mid-size electric pickup. Jalopnik reported that dealers were able to have a sneak peek of the vehicle at a recent dealer meeting hosted by Stellantis in Las Vegas, which they described as similar to the 1500 Revolution concept.

As per Ram Chief Executive Officer Mike Koval Jr., this would not be developed as another Revolution truck. Despite this statement, dealer and former Stellantis Dealer Council Chairman Randy Rye said that this truck surpassed his expectations despite him being led to believe that it would something be more traditional.

"Without a doubt, it looks like a Ram. I look at some of the other midsize offerings in the market, and I'm not going to pick on individual brands, but I don't think they always favor their mother brand. The midsize ones have seemed to get away, and they don't look the same. This is very much a Ram," Rye stated.

The midsize pickup truck is just one of the 30 new products across numerous brands that were unveiled at the Stellantis dealer meeting, which is the first gathering of dealers in eight years. Stellantis Chief Executive Officer Carlos Tavares was present during the meeting and explained in the meeting the profitability in the age of electric vehicles.

Ram 1500 REV's Success

Ram revealed its first electric vehicle pickup truck called Ram 1500 REV at the Consumer Electronics Show last January. Electrek reported that the truck featured several innovations for certain vehicles, including detachable third-row seating, grand saloon doors, and powered automatic steps.

Tavares explained that Ram 1500 REV  would outperform all competitors when it comes to towing, range, payload, and charging time. In fact, Ram revealed that this truck is set to compete against Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T.

Consumers were encouraged to reserve the electric vehicle through the Ram REV Insider membership. Customers will be able to reserve the truck and will be given a $100 deposit for the membership.

But due to high demand, the membership reached its maximum capacity last month, which resulted in shutting down pre-orders. Reservations were completely sold out on February 17th, only five days after opening the registration through a Super Bowl advertisement.

Originally, Ram gave interested customers until March 1st to sign up for the pre-orders. Both Stellantis nor Ram did not confirm the number of memberships and the decision if they will re-open the registration.
