Twitter: Getting Verified Before Vs. After Elon Musk Takeover

CNBC reported that Twitter blue check marks were free before Elon Musk acquired Twitter.

The social media platform verifies accounts as a way to identify them if they match real people or companies.

Most Twitter accounts that receive verifications are those belonging to journalists, celebrities, government officials, and organizations.

However, after the billionaire took over, he decided to change this system. Instead of relying on Twitter staff to actually verify Twitter accounts, he decided to launch Twitter Blue.

This subscription service, which costs $7 per month, will allow anyone (if they meet the platform's eligibility requirements) to be verified.

In other news, the Twitter Blue relaunch allegedly made millions of dollars in revenue. We also reported that Twitter's two-factor authentication is no longer free.
