The largest and most famous gaming showcases anticipated yearly, E3, is already canceled for this year, as confirmed by the organizers behind this, ReedPop. The company recently announced this but was initially discovered through several reports from insiders familiar with the matter, seeing another year without the E3 to bring the latest showcase for the gaming industry.

This follows the multiple pullouts from known publishers, developers, and companies in the gaming industry, including Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and more.

As first reported by IGN, the E3 2023 is unfortunately canceled again, and this comes as somber news to gamers who are looking forward to attending the event, as well as witnessing the latest developments in the industry. The reports claim that the company, the Electronic Software Association, and its organizer sent out emails to members of the E3, calling off the event.

"This was a difficult decision because of all the effort we and our partners put toward making this event happen, but we had to do what's right for the industry and what's right for E3," said Kyle Marsden-Kish, global vice president of gaming for ReedPop.

"We appreciate and understand that interested companies wouldn't have playable demos ready and that resourcing challenges made being at E3 this summer an obstacle they couldn't overcome," added by Marsden-Kish.

ReedPop, ESA to Continue Work for Future E3s

ReedPop, the organizer in partnership with the ESA claims that it will continue the work it did with the ESA for the future E3s to come. According to E3's official website, both the ESA and ReedPop will evaluate the future of E3s to come, especially in the viability of showcases in the future.

This new development comes after last year's confirmation that the E3 2023 is confirmed to return to its regular showcases. However, this year saw multiple pull-outs from E3's invitations with the likes of Ubisoft, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and other gaming companies.

The E3 Showcases in the Past

The E3 is a famous event that has been delivering the latest showcases and advancements in the world of gaming, and it has been regular in its shows in the past. However, when COVID-19 hit, the in-person events were canceled altogether, and the company and organizer behind it opt for a digital or virtual showcase instead.

The games event brought significant news and updates to gamers, which they enjoyed, as it shows the massive efforts and contributions of its developers to expand more on the experience.

In a supposed bid to return E3 to its regular programming, organizers of E3 2022 also opted for the digital showcase of the event, as fears of the virus are still present and ramping high in numbers. This was for the best of the attendees and companies who will bring their products to the market, as anyone may contract COVID at an event like that.

Fast forward to 2023, E3 still faces a cancelation to its festivities in-person, but no longer rules out COVID as the major reason behind it. The organizers and the ESA were not clear about the event's cancelation, but it cancels both the physical and digital events for this year, which is timely to the many companies that pulled out of their supposed showcase.
