Engineers and designers from different industries have been using 3D printing technology for many decades now. Recently, these highly-versatile machines have also gained popularity among hobbyists and innovators.

With the growing demand for accessible 3D printers, companies and organizations have started developing top-of-the-line desktop versions of formerly industrial-sized 3D printers. This made 3D printing more affordable and practical for the general public.

3D printers have hit the mainstream. But should you dip your toes and buy one? In this article, we'll talk about one of the best 3D printers in the market today: Creality's Ender-5 S1.

What Can 3D Printing Be Used For?

3D printing lets designers turn concepts and ideas into 3D models and prototypes. With their ability to create final products, 3D printers are gradually transforming consumerism. It offers a different level of flexibility and versatility, evident in the wide range of ways these machines can be used today.

For starters, 3D printing can create stylish heels and statement jewelry for the fashion industry. Interior designers are also taking advantage of 3D printing for creating ottomans, as well as dining tables and chairs. On the other hand, hobbyists are utilizing 3D printers for making wax castings, novelty items, and toys. More importantly, the healthcare industry is making the most of 3D printing. 3D printers are now used for creating precise anatomical models to assist surgeons in complex procedures.

Creality Ender 5-S1 Design

The new Creality 5-S1 appears similar to the old Ender-5. It also comes in an all-metal cube frame and a classic Cartesian structure that ensures professional-grade stability. It is enhanced by two Z-axis 12mm linear shafts, two profile gussets, two cantilevers, and a silicone bed mounts. This high-quality printer has a modular design which makes it easy to assemble. It only takes 10 minutes, and you can start printing at no time.

The most prominent edge of the new Ender-5 S1 is the all-metal "Sprite" direct extruder, Creality's self-developed extruder that features high-temperature printing. Alongside the "Sprite" extruder, the Ender-5 S1 also comes with extra cooling technology for premium performance.

The Ender-5 S1 comes with a magnetic PC spring steel sheet that provides better adhesion to the printed models. After printing, users can remove the model easily with a slight bend.

Creality Ender 5-S1 Performance

Let's talk about its performance. The Ender-5 S1 boasts a maximum print speed of up to 250 mm/s, five times the printing speed of conventional Cartesian printers. Test results from Creality Lab show that printing a 3DBenchy using the new Ender-5 S1 takes only 35 minutes at the maximum speed. Compared to printing at 50 mm/s, the latest addition to the Ender series line saves 67% of the time, making it an excellent choice for small to medium-sized businesses seeking to build up their production fleet.

CR Touch Auto-leveling Probe

With the importance of print bed leveling in mind, Creality ensures that Ender-5 S1 will have a quicker, expert-level calibration. The new 3D printer features a CR Touch 25-point auto-leveling and auxiliary leveling system, providing a smooth, hassle-free bed-leveling experience.

Users are recommended to adjust the print bed by 0.01mm Z-axis offset and the five-point auxiliary leveling before going through the CR Touch leveling method.

Touch Screen Display With a New UI

Ender-5 S1 features a responsive 4.3-inch touchscreen with a wide and simplified viewing angle. It has a friendly interface with added temperature PID function for accurate and steady temperature control.

350 Power Supply

The Ender-5 S1 is the first to use a secure aviation connector that guarantees safe and stable power and data transmission. For enhanced safety, the 350W power adapter of the Ender-5 S1 is encased in the printer's base.

Printing in Multiple Ways

With Ender-5 S1, you can print in multiple ways:

  • Print from memory card

  • Print from PC

  • Cloud printing
