The social media giant Meta is planning to invest in generative AI at the end of 2023. With this action, the company is commercializing the use of the technology to improve its ad creation in its apps.

Nikkei Asia reports that Bosworth highlights the importance of generative AI in creating pictures for users.

"[I] expect we'll start seeing some of them [commercialization of the tech] this year. We just created a new team, the generative AI team, a couple of months ago; they are very busy. It's probably the area that I'm spending the most time [in], as well as Mark Zuckerberg and [Chief Product Officer] Chris Cox," Bosworth said in an interview with the publication.

Two months ago, Meta CPO Chris Cox dedicated his time to coming up with AI tools that can help the company. Zuckerberg said that at that time, the company was still exploring how AI-powered chats work on Messenger and WhatsApp. The same technology is also usable when using Instagram filters for Stories.

Meta Aims to Create 3D Worlds Using Generative AI

TechCrunch states in another report that Meta also shares its plans to "create virtual worlds" through the power of generative artificial intelligence.

Bosworth points out that the company will rely on several language models or LLMs to successfully make a 3D-modeled dimension. Of course, this will be possible with the help of OpenAI's GPT-4, the most advanced AI chatbot of the company at the moment.

Meta's CTO adds that Meta wants people to access more places inside a 3D world. It requires extensive programming and graphics before producing their desired virtual world.

The popularity of AI resurfaced when ChatGPT debuted in November 2022. Many companies wanted to emulate the success of OpenAI by creating their own chatbot version.

For Meta, this is not the long-term plan since it's still focused on metaverse creation. By far, it's the service with a high-yielding profit for the company.

The business tycoon says that the team will be more focused on building a "stronger and more nimble organization" this time.

If it wants to drive more profit, Facebook Reels is not the only option. This could be the reason why Meta has high hopes for the generative AI to do the miracle.

Aside from Meta, Omnkey has previously explored the use of generative ads thanks to GPT-3 and DALL-2.
