Still, climate concerns and pandemic woes threaten to spoil the party.

World Car of the Year

Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, expressed his gratitude for the prestigious honor. He stated that it reinforces their commitment to being a global leader in vehicle electrification.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was chosen from an initial entry list of thirty vehicles worldwide and then a shortlist of three finalists.

Vehicles eligible for the overall World Car of the Year award must be produced in volumes of at least 10,000 units/year, must be priced below the luxury-car level in their primary markets, and must be "on sale" in at least two major markets on at least two separate continents at some time within January 1, 2022, and March 30, 2023.

The Ioniq 6 boasts a bold streamliner appearance, which combines a potent emotional appeal with aerodynamic effectiveness to provide a remarkable range. The automobile's interior is a private studio that provides tranquility and thoughtful space, upgrading the look of electric vehicles.

Renowned automotive designer Ian Callum made this year's World Car Award trophies. He acknowledged the significance of the prize being prominently displayed in the studio for a design team.

The Callum-designed trophies were created by REPLIQUE using the first 3D printing platform to be fully encrypted, giving OEMs a safe and reliable way to supply parts on demand.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 was selected from a shortlist of three finalists and an initial entry list of twenty-one electric vehicles for the Global Electric Vehicle category.

The BMW i7, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Lucid Air were the 2023 Top Three in the World finalists.

Six international design professionals initially evaluated each of the 78 finalists, who then created a shortlist of suggestions for the jury's final vote.
