NVIDIA CEO, Jensen Huang, believes that generative AI is ushering in a new era of computing where anyone can become a programmer without the need to write code, according to a report by CNBC. 

During his keynote speech at the Computex forum in Taiwan, Huang unveiled the DGX GH200, a powerful AI supercomputer platform designed to facilitate the development of generative AI models.

Eliminating Programming Barrier

Generative AI refers to a subset of artificial intelligence that focuses on generating new content, such as images, text, audio, and even entire synthetic data sets.

It involves training AI models to understand patterns and structures in existing data and then using that knowledge to generate new, original content that resembles the training data.

It is considered an emerging technology due to its ability to automate content generation, save time and effort for professionals, personalize user experiences, and augment existing data. This is particularly evident with the rise of OpenAI's viral chatbot ChatGPT.

Huang emphasized that this new computing platform eliminates the programming barrier by leveraging large language models to understand user intent. By simply speaking to the computer, individuals can convey their desired functions without the complexities of traditional coding. 

According to Huang, "We have closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer. Now, you just have to say something to the computer."

Nvidia considers generative AI to be the most significant computing platform of our time, as it empowers individuals and businesses to develop new applications and harness the power of generative AI.  

This technology enables creative professionals to generate images from text prompts, assists programmers in application development and debugging, and allows architects to transform 2D floor plans into 3D models.

The New Computing Era

Huang highlighted the unique qualities of this computing era, stating that generative AI goes beyond processing text and numbers. It now possesses the ability to understand multimodality, which paves the way for its widespread impact across various industries. 

In contrast to traditional computing models that necessitate new hardware and applications to adapt to advancements like AI, generative AI has the unique capability to both improve existing applications and facilitate the creation of novel ones. 

According to Huang, every application will benefit from AI, both old and new. The ease of use and rapid progress of generative AI are driving its rapid growth and adoption. 

Huang remarked, "Every single computing era, you could do different things that weren't possible before. Artificial intelligence certainly qualifies." 

As the world embraces this new computing era, the boundaries of programming are expanding, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to leverage generative AI and unleash their creative potential.

With its ability to understand and generate various forms of content, generative AI has the potential to revolutionize industries and drive innovation at an unprecedented pace.
