A unique dating app, Teaser AI, has been making waves by turning potential matches into AI chatbots. Developed by the team behind the popular photo-sharing app Dispo, Teaser allows users to engage in conversations with AI versions of potential matches before deciding to swipe right or left, according to a report by TechCrunch.

Teaser EO, Daniel Liss, wants to clarify that the app's intention is not to recreate the movie "Her," where a person falls in love with an AI assistant, but instead, the AI conversations are meant to serve as icebreakers, facilitating faster connections between users.

Creating an AI LikenesUsersrs answer personality questions when creating their account to create an AI likeness, including whether they are introverted or extroverted, aggressive or peaceful, and easygoing or intense. The AI attempts to imitate their personality based on these responses and the user's interactions within the app.

Before chatting with a potential match's AI, users receive a notice stating that the AI might say "some crazy shit." This warning acknowledges the potential for unpredictable responses from the AI.

During interactions on the app, some users have encountered unexpected or inaccurate information. For example, Anna, a 28-year-old profile owner, states in her profile that she is a "dog mom," but her AI tells a different story, claiming she has a 28-year-old human child named Jake. Such discrepancies highlight the challenges of relying on AI-generated conversations.

According to TechCrunch, Teaser seems to have a larger male user base compared to female users, which is a common trend on dating apps.

When the profile is set to "women only," the number of potential matches significantly decreases. However, users continue to engage with the AI versions of potential matches despite these limitations.

Anti-ghosting App

Teaser sets itself apart by incorporating generative AI into its platform. However, Liss prefers to market the app as an anti-ghosting dating app rather than emphasizing its AI capabilities.

The goal is to encourage meaningful conversations and reduce the occurrence of ghosting, where one abruptly stops communicating with another person without explanation.

Teaser employs a unique approach by limiting users to 16 matches at a time, encouraging them to actively engage with each other. Additionally, users receive a "ghost" rating indicating their likelihood to engage in ghosting behavior.

Teaser AI aims to create a new dating ethos, utilizing AI as a tool to enhance the user experience rather than making it the primary focus. By incorporating AI and promoting active conversations, Teaser strives to provide a distinct dating app experience for its users.

In their quest for the next project after Dispo, Liss and his team are seeking user input to gain valuable insights into desired features and innovative elements to incorporate into the app.
