A shareholder meeting from Nintendo revealed a lot about the future of its consoles, particularly when customers want to transfer their data, purchases, and more to the new device. Nintendo regarded that taking one's progress and information from the Switch to the upcoming device would be made easy and accessible for all.

Nintendo is best known for being secretive about its new developments, especially for its hardware, and being strict about the information that surrounds them, including leaks.

Back in last week's shareholder meeting, Nintendo was met with a question about the future of its technology for consoles, more specifically, if purchases would carry over to future devices. The company affirmed that this would be available to help them transition better for the future, and this could be done via one's Nintendo account.

According to President and CEO Shuntaro Furukawa, the company is making an effort in allowing gamers to do this with their accounts, helping transfer data from one device to the other.

Engadget reported that this could be a possibility to carry over purchases and more from the old Switch to the new console. Moreover, this was not available from the Wii U to the Nintendo Switch when it first arrived.

Switch Data to New Console, But When Is it Coming?

Transferring the Switch data was easy before, as the Nintendo Switch V1 is almost the same device as the Switch OLED, both being under the hybrid gaming console platform.

However, as the President said, there would be a transfer available in the future, which is unlike what happened with the Switch V1 and OLED versions. This may hint that the next Nintendo console would move away from the Switch.

It is yet unknown when the next Nintendo console would arrive, and knowing Nintendo, there would not be any information until the device is already here.

Nintendo and its Console Development

The Nintendo Switch is already a long-running portable gaming console from the Japanese multinational company, already seeing six years in the market and having three variants to choose from. Some leaks believe that the Switch development would continue, and the next console would be a handheld with NVIDIA GPU, called the Switch Pro.

Speculations about a new Nintendo console are strong, and given the age of the Switch, there is bound to be a new one coming soon.

It was also spotted that Nintendo was allegedly hiring a new systems developer, and according to an insider, it was for the Switch's next-gen console version. This remains a rumor as there are no official announcements yet about a new gaming device.

Nintendo made it clear that the Switch would remain its current console and this may mean that it would not go anywhere for the time being. However, it is bound to change or bring in the next one, and Nintendo would fulfill transferring one's data and information for the tech, allowing them to still access their previous progress, files, customizations, and more.
