It is expected that the Google Pixel 8 will arrive this year to bring the successor to its Pixel 7, but rumors are now saying that it is not going to change a lot from its previous release. There would be changes, but it would be minimal, and it is not something that Google has done for the Pixel smartphone lineup for the past few releases as it brought significant changes from the past.

Android Authority reported that an unknown source confirmed new features for the upcoming Pixel 8, and it centers on the battery capacity and charging rates that will be better compared to the Pixel 7.

First off, the Pixel 7's base model and 7 Pro featured a 4,270mAh and 4,926mAh power cell, but with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, it would see a slight increase to 4,485mAh battery and a 4,950mA, respectively.

On the other hand, the Pixel 8 would feature 24W of wired charging and the Pixel 8 Pro would bring 27W via its USB-C charging port which would increase more of its speeds and capabilities.

Nevertheless, these are the only two reported changes for the Pixel 8 lineup says Android Central, citing that there are only minimal changes from the previous model to the upcoming one.

Will the Pixel 8 Still Debut an Iconic Release?

The report further claims that the Pixel 8 series may feature WiFi 7, and this would expand more of the connectivity support for the upcoming smartphone from Google. Additionally, there would be a limited Pixel 8 Pro feature called the Ultra Wide Band (UWB) but would also stick with the Pro version rather than also arrive for the base model.

For now, we just have to wait and see what insiders and Google has to offer regarding the Pixel 8, as it is still early for concluding its worthiness.

Google's Pixel Smartphones

The Pixel lineup is expected from the company year after year, just like the Apple iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S series that popularized the trend of yearly updates for its smartphones. With the culmination of Google's development and the Android operating system, the Pixel smartphones are famous, with its latest one being the Pixel 7.

It is expected in the next releases that the company would bring more features and improve what they previously introduced, and this is the same case as the Pixel 8 transition from the 2022 release. As per early leaks, the Pixel 8 lineup would include an Android 14 Safety Feature known as the Memory Safety Bug that prevents unintended crashes, poor stability, and safety flaws.

Google has regarded its Pixel smartphones to be a feature-packed devices, with the company known for throwing shade at Apple for what it lacks in terms of performance, tech, and other functions. However, it seems like the rumors centering on the Pixel 8 have low expectations for the device, with its changes only focusing on its batteries and charging for the new smartphone.
