Refurbished items are often sold at much more affordable prices compared to their original listings. Valve is now selling refurbished versions of its handheld console, the Steam Deck, at significant discounts.

Valve Steam Deck 'Certified Refurbished' Models Up for Sale at Lower Prices

According to The Verge, Valve was reportedly listing Steam Decks that were "certified refurbished" for less than the brand-new handheld gaming PC. While the discount might not be enough for some, since the Steam Deck was rarely sold at discounts, it can still be considered a significant price drop.

As per Valve on Twitter, the Steam Decks were reportedly still fully tested, which they ensured at their facilities. Aside from that, the devices would also offer a 1-year warranty just like a buyer would get should they purchase a new console.

Buyers would at Least Save $80 from Buying the Refurbished Steam Deck

Should buyers want to check out the official Valve Steam Deck refurbished version, they'll have to go directly to the official Steam website. The listing revealed different details ahead of the refurbished version's official launch.

The refurbished units would allow users to save a good amount compared to their original pricing. This comes as the 64 GB refurbished Steam Deck version costs just $319 compared to the $399 from the new handheld console, which is an $80 discount.

The Maximum Buyers can Save from Refurbished Steam Deck Consoles is at $130

The discount gets bigger for the more expensive units with the 256 GB refurbished Steam Deck version costing just $419, which was a $110 drop from its original $529 price. The last refurbished option is the 512 GB version which costs just $519 compared to the $649 new device, which is a $130 discount.

Valve also notes that the supplies are limited and that they expect the consoles to come in and out of stock. This comes as the refurbished consoles can only be sold whenever users return consoles in good enough condition or if Valve is capable of repairing the returned consoles.

Certified Refurbished Steam Deck Underwent Same Thorough Testings

The company also noted that every Certified Refurbished Steam Deck underwent thorough testing to ensure that they were at the same standards as the original retail units. The company also noted that all devices went through factory resets, software updates, as well as extensive examination.

The testing for the consoles before they are sold as refurbished units includes over 100 tests at the company's facilities. Part of the tests are reportedly inputs when it comes to the controller, audio system, screen, as well as other internals.

Refurbished Steam Decks to Also be Sold on GameStop

Another important part of the test was assessing the handheld console's battery health to ensure its longevity and functionality. Valve also said that select GameStop stores would be selling the refurbished Steam Decks soon.

However, Valve noted that GameStop's refurbished units would come with their very own warranty. With regards to the Steam Decks on GameStop, they are reportedly only available to subscribers of GameStop Pro.
