Google's last-year released smartwatch is seeing a successor this year, and would most likely be a part of its yearly tech update, with the Pixel Watch 2 confirmed via an FCC listing. This regulatory certification is confirmed to be the latest wearables from Google which will feature three variants, alongside four new bands for users.

However, one of the most noticeable things here is the absence of a previously rumored feature that was said to arrive with the new watch, despite the Pixel smartphones having it.

A report by Android Central centers on the Pixel Watch 2's recent appearance on the FCC, as reported by 9to5 Google, and discussed everything that is and is not coming for the wearable. In these reports, Google has made three new variants for the Pixel Watch 2, unlike last year's release that only focused on one device.

As per the listing on the FCC, three variants are coming from Google including the model numbers G4TSL, GC368, and GD2WG.

The G4TSL is the basic Pixel Watch 2 that will bring Bluetooth and WiFi connections for its user, and it will feature four new straps to choose from when purchasing.

On the other hand, the GC368 model will bring Bluetooth, WiFi, and LTE, supporting Band 5 and 7. While the GD2WG will feature support for LTE Band 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 66, and 71, the US Cellular Model.

New Bands for Pixel Watch 2, One Feature Missing

The four new bands for the Pixel Watch 2 will bring a plastic "active strap," the metal links which was available last year, and the two new releases, the metal mesh strap, and the metal slim strap.

With all that said, there would be one missing feature for the Pixel Watch 2 despite earlier leaks claiming that it will also feature the ultra-wideband (UWB). This means fewer features and tech for the device, centering on precise location tracking.

Google's Pixel Developments Last Year

The massive developments over at Google's Pixel are something to expect on an annual basis, with the company going massive on consumer tech with some of the daily needs of the public. This centers on the Pixel smartphone which started it all, with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro already speculated for the new features it will bring on this year's update.

On one hand, there are the Pixel smartphones, on the other, there is the Pixel Watch which was only introduced last year, with Google completing the connected experience that users bring every day. The dedicated smartwatch for Pixel devices is one iconic release from Google, with features like activity tracking and the recently added Fall Detection

It is expected that more developments on the Pixel brand will appear for the public to enjoy, and this ensures the wide development of Google devices that are adept to compete with industry giants. With the Pixel Watch 2 already appearing at the FCC, it is expected to arrive later this year coming in with new bands, but without the famed ultra-wideband feature for better tech connections.
