Artificial intelligence is regarded as the future of many, and this also includes Spotify which was recently discovered to keep a hidden code on its backend that points to AI-generated playlists. This means that in the future, users would get the chance to delegate its AI via prompts to create a new Playlist on Spotify, matching their descriptions and preferences.

In today's experiences, some ask ChatGPT to match a specific song for them to add to their playlist, but not a direct effort yet for music streaming platforms.

Chris Messina, a renowned product designer and hashtag inventor, spotted a hidden backend code on Spotify that centers on AI-generated playlists in the future. According to his latest post in Threads, users may be able to "generate" their "AI Playlists" on Spotify.

Messina claimed that this creation may be an option in the "Blend Genre," one that could effectively combine different preferences or tastes in music.

While Spotify has not yet formally unveiled this, it is unknown which LLM or company it partnered with, but it was known for its previous use of OpenAI's voice generation technology before.

Spotify also has an AI-powered DJ available in the platform, a feature that will assist users in their music, but also get to talk to them in brief responses.

Create a Spotify Playlist using a Prompt in the Future

It is still unknown to what extent this feature could bring for users, particularly what is needed to create an AI-generated Playlist in the future. However, it would depend on user prompts as to what they want to have in their playlists, maybe referencing songs, describing their tempo, adding preferred artists, song production date, and more.

Spotify and its Dance with AI

Spotify is no longer shy with regards to using AI and algorithms to add a more intuitive and in-depth experience for them to offer to its users, helping the listeners enjoy more music streaming. Previously, the Swedish music streaming company hinted at the possibility that AI is coming, centering on offering new experiences for personalization and ads on the platform.

Alongside this, the company also introduced a feature last week that uses OpenAI's voice generation technology to translate podcasts into their preferred languages or dialects. Spotify took it a step further by introducing the AI's capabilities to copy or clone the podcasters' voices, with its goal of maintaining authenticity for better content engagements.

Still, Spotify is against AI-generated songs, with the company going on purges to remove them from the app

While there are different tolerances for AI and AI generation, Spotify is welcoming it with regards to adding features to the app, including better assistance to users. With the recent discovery of a code, Spotify's future feature may only need one's prompt, description, or other inputs to create a playlist for them, leveraging its massive library.
