Smartphone technology is evolving, and this could be seen with the upcoming flagship from Honor, the Magic 6, with the latest showcase of the company debuting the eye-tracking feature of the device, enough to let users interact with their gaze. Through this feature, users may launch an app of their liking without the need to touch the screen, with this gesture enough to identify what a user wants.

Alongside Honor's announcement of Magic 6's features, there are also various advancements that it brings, centering on generative AI and other tech.

Honor revealed its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Magic6, via a recent press release which details the many features and capabilities of the device. However, one of the most notable announcements here is probably the first eye-tracking integration on a smartphone, and it is capable to follow the eye's movements and identify an app a user wants to launch.

Through this feature, users no longer need to tap on the smartphone or even use its AI assistant to launch the app for them.

Honor calls this feature the "Magic Capsule," centering on a multimodal interaction through eye-tracking, harnessing the power of its new chip, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is no ordinary chip, as it is now the most powerful SoC for smartphones, and this will help Honor deliver its massive AI integration, based on what they unveiled via the Qualcomm 2023 Snapdragon Summit.

Honor CEO George Zhao introduced massive AI features for all, with the Magic6 getting an on-device large-language model (LLM) which it developed, centering on massive generative AI features for all.

Honor's Smartphones and Tech

Honor has prided itself in the advanced and massive developments it brought to the smartphone world, with its technology offering significant features and experiences for Chinese devices. Earlier this year, the company introduced a slur of new AI features available to its smartphone, with the Magic 5 Pro featuring an AI-powered camera to help enhance shots.

Apart from its smartphone, Honor also has its remarkable tablet series, including the latest Honor Pad V8 Pro, featuring top specs enough to be a contender against Apple's iPads, Samsung Galaxy Tabs, and more. The Pad V8 Pro offers an IMAX-enhanced 144Hz display, the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC, a 100$ DCI-P3 Color Gamut, and more of what it brings to the table.

While Honor may not be the most famous and resounding name in Chinese consumer technology, it gives other brands and companies a run for its money with what it has to offer. The upcoming Honor Magic 6 will feature an on-device LLM, and this is one of the most unique smartphone integrations the industry has seen, with its eye-tracking feature also catching the world's attention.
