Document scanner features are nifty in this day and age, and Google Drive has this capability for iOS devices in its recent update, expanding this renowned Android tech for its rivals. It presents a nifty tool that users may access any time they have an internet connection and the Google Drive app, with its features automatically detecting a paper or page that one needs to scan. 

Google Drive iOS Brings New Document Scanner Feature

A new Google Workspace Updates release details the latest changes on the Google Drive app for the iOS platforms, now centering on the Document Scanner available for access. This means that users with iPhones and iPads, alongside the Drive app installed, could use this feature now, saving them effort and time to use other apps and services along the way. 

Instead of using other apps or Apple's renowned document scanner feature embedded within Notes, and then uploading it to the Drive, they may use this Google feature for direct upload. 

Like other document scanners, Drive offers an intuitive feature that will automatically determine the edges of a paper or file, then center it and improve the lighting for better readability.

How to Scan a Document and Save it on the Cloud

Users only need to have a Google Drive app on their iOS device for this feature to work. Moreover, it also needs to be updated to the latest version to get the document scanner feature. 

On the Drive's home feed, users need to locate the Camera icon above the "+" sign to launch the scanner, and then align the specific pages they need to capture. After that, users may opt to edit and enhance the image before confirming its upload. 

There is also an option to import from the Camera Roll. 

Google Drive and its Available Features

Google Drive is unlike what it offered before, as the company has offered the world many features to enjoy for the cloud-based storage service in the many updates it had in the past. Earlier this year, Google added a feature called "Location Picker" which helps organize files better, and this is especially useful for those who want their uploads to be structured and easily navigatable. 

However, there seem to have been certain limits imposed on the Drive, as Google added a "cap" that limits the file creation and uploads that users can save to their accounts. Despite having the maximum data allocation from Google's subscription service, users may only upload up to 5 million files in total, and it is up to their discretion on how they will use this limit wisely.

There have been ups and downs when using Google Drive, and one of the latest concerns raised against it was the mysterious disappearances of files from months to years ago, claims users. Still, the company released this latest upgrade that makes it more accessible for all to use certain features, including its Document Scanner for iOS, offering a direct upload to save the file.
