Instead of having to navigate the app after opening it, users may go directly to the service they need, and this is through custom GPTs available to launch from the shortcut menu.

For users who are interested in using the AI tools from OpenAI, this feature is highly useful and helpful for you, especially on Android.

Parker Ortolani shared on X that ChatGPT for Android has a new feature, and it is taking advantage of the smartphone OS' shortcut menu feature that could launch custom GPTs.

This can be done from the Shortcuts Menu, and this may be accessed by long pressing the app until it shows the hidden menu that is meant to bring users quick actions. There are three aspects of the ChatGPT for the Android app to access, and this includes the DALL-E AI image generator, Data Analyst for codes, and the ChatGPT Classic.

According to 9to5 Google, this feature will allow users to directly launch these features from the home screen. Additionally, Ortolani also revealed that users may add these custom GPTs to the home screen for easier access.

Exclusive Feature for ChatGPT Android, iOS Doesn't Have It

It is also important to note that while Apple's iOS has the same shortcut feature when long pressing the app, it does not have this feature as it is exclusive to ChatGPT for Android for now. OpenAI has not yet revealed whether this would be an exclusive for Android or whether the company is already on its way to developing this experience for iOS.

ChatGPT and What it Has to Offer Now

It was only in July 2023 when OpenAI made ChatGPT for Android available for users to download, and initially, it was made available to select countries only, offering a more intuitive way to access the chatbot from smartphones. Having the smartphone app is an ideal way to get access to the chatbot at all times, including the likes of voice input, syncing user history, and more.

After more than a year since OpenAI launched from ChatGPT, the technology has opened up the massive adoption of AI in the industry, and it fast-tracked the wide use of AI chatbots in the world. It became the fastest-growing consumer app in history, with the company best known for its collaboration with Microsoft to further develop its AI, also powering its technology.

Developments are expected to pour into the different offers of ChatGPT in the future, but in its current version, it already offers intuitive features to enjoy, especially on Android. The custom GPT launches on ChatGPT for Android help access the different tools and features available from the app, allowing users to go directly to DALL-E or Data Analyst, without navigating the app.
