The "reinvention of eyewear for the AI era" is here, and it is a new AR glasses called "Frame," delivered by the 2019 startup known as Brilliant Labs. Frame offers a new kind of experience for those looking for a twist in their everyday lives, centering on a new wearable designed to look like regular glasses but offering AR optics in a clear OLED display.

At first glance, Frame would be mistaken for a regular reading or doctor-prescribed glasses, but looking closely, it features the name of its company, Brilliant Labs, and has two orbs at its temple tips.

It offers features including visual recognition, real-time translation, nutrition information, AI web search, and image generation, available in different colors like black, gray, pink, and H2O (transparent) options.

Additionally, the company said that it is prescription-compatible and will use the graded lens.

Brilliant Labs said that what sets Frame apart from other AR glasses in the world is its AI features, offering this new wearable that embodies the power of artificial intelligence to its tech. In this wearable, users may find themselves getting massive assistance from AI, with the glasses giving the information through the floating display to be seen while wearing it.

AR Glasses From the Big Tech

Augmenting reality from the technology found in wearables to the real world has been around earlier, and this gave the world a chance to reimagine and discover more things in everyday events or experiences.

Google's Glass is one of the top known AR wearables in the world, and it began its journey with this device back in 2013. A decade later, the company discontinued it with the last release of its Enterprise Edition.

However, this technology did not die, as different companies took it upon themselves to also bring their take on AR glasses, like what Meta (formerly Facebook) delivered with its collaboration with Ray-Ban. First, the company delivered the Ray-Ban Stories in 2021 to bring a fashionable accessory for Instagram, but last year, it debuted its second version, better known as the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.

Microsoft also has its take on AR glasses, but it is technically mixed-reality, centering on the famed HoloLens series, which the company also discontinued. Now, a new player enters the market with its take on AR glasses but puts a twist to this with the introduction of artificial intelligence to the devices, featuring the newfound power to bring intuitive experiences now available to experience.
