NASA has ventured into tabletop gaming with the unveiling of its inaugural tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG), "The Lost Universe."

"Welcome, adventurers! You enter now into the world of Exlaris, where science and magic meet. This is a world not unlike Earth, yet on a very different path. Exlaris is a solo wanderer through the cosmos: a rogue planet," NASA wrote in a comprehensive overview of the game.

NASA's First Tabletop Roleplaying Game: 'The Lost Universe'

NASA's first-ever TTRPG invites players to embark on an epic adventure set in the mysterious city of Aldastron on the rogue planet of Exlaris.

The game begins with a dark mystery shrouding the city, as researchers dedicated to cosmic exploration vanish without a trace, and even the Hubble Space Telescope disappears from Earth's timeline.

In this thrilling tabletop adventure, players assume the roles of adventurers tasked with uncovering the truth behind these perplexing disappearances.

The game is designed for parties consisting of 4-7 characters ranging from levels 7 to 10, offering an immersive experience that seamlessly integrates scientific knowledge and gameplay mechanics.

The narrative unfolds across two distinct parts, each offering its own set of challenges and revelations. The first part plunges players into the heart of Aldastron, where they find themselves thrust into unfamiliar bodies and a city fraught with enigmas.

As players navigate this unfamiliar terrain, they must utilize their scientific expertise and magical abilities to unravel the secrets of Exlaris and its troubled history.

Throughout their journey, players encounter a diverse cast of non-player characters (NPCs) who shape their perceptions of this world and provide crucial insights into its lore.

The game encourages collaborative storytelling, with players sharing their observations and discoveries as they strive to piece together the puzzle of Aldastron's mysteries.

The second part of the adventure takes players beyond the confines of the city to explore nearby ruins and confront the evil force responsible for the disappearances.

As players confront formidable challenges and engage in skillful maneuvers, they must work together to overcome obstacles and thwart the machinations of a cunning adversary.
