Sports fans can be something of a superstitious sort. During the big game, thousands of people rely on bizarre, oftentimes illogical methods to try and predict the outcome: some may flip a coin, while others may refer to what jersey an orangutan tried to wear. There are countless different 'methods' for predicting the Super Bowl, but as it stands, EA Sports may have found a more consistent solution.

That's right: EA's annual football simulator correctly predicted the outcome of Super Bowl XLIX - and Madden NFL 15 didn't just get final score right, either. In hindsight, Madden NFL 15 was shockingly accurate when it came down to how the final seconds of the game played out.

Yes, the game accurately predicted the final score of the Patriots-Seahawks game: 28-24 in New England's favor. What's amazing is that the game got so many other details right. There were little things, like Brady being named the Super Bowl MVP again, but the number of minuscule, unpredictable details that the simulation got right are mind-bending.

For instance, during last night's game, the Patriots were down 24-14 after the Seahawks dominated the second half...and the same exact thing happened in Madden. Julian Edelman caught the game's winning touchdown pass, and not only did the game predict that as well, but correctly guessed the exact type of play the Patriots used.

The game's simulations haven't always been perfect: the Super Bowl XLIX prediction brings Madden NFL 2015's record up to 9 out of 12, but even so - that is an amazing number of tiny, impossible-to-predict details to get right.

Perhaps the folks over at EA Sports know a bit more than they're letting on...
