The now-accessible social media platform, Bluesky, launched its latest feature that allows direct messaging to mutual accounts and others on the app, for all to use. This is one of the most anticipated features of Bluesky as it did not have a way to be more up close and personal with connected accounts on the platform, slowly turning into the social media the world has waited for.

That being said, there was also a small teaser from Bluesky regarding an expanded experience on the DMs feature, as there would be encrypted conversations coming later.

Bluesky's recent blog post detailed the arrival of the DMs feature on the platform, and it expands more of the social media experience available on the platform for users. This much-awaited feature has been missing since Bluesky's 2022 launch, and this new feature, allows a user to have a one-on-one conversation with a preferred account right on the app.

On mobile, users may find the chat icon at the bottom part of the interface, and first-time users, need to create a new chat first with a selected contact. For the desktop, the chat icon can be found on the sidebar.

After sending or receiving the first message, users may see their conversations with specific accounts when clicking the icon.

Bluesky Encrypted Conversations Coming

Bluesky also added privacy features with the DMs, including the ability to control who can message one's account, with three options Everyone, Users I follow, and No one. However, users may soon see an expanded privacy feature with upcoming encrypted conversation capabilities coming soon in the future.

Users who are blocked cannot message the blocker's accounts, but Muted users would be able to. Moreover, users may block accounts right on the DM page.

Bluesky's Experiences Available

Bluesky first opened its doors for users in 2022, and this was the time when Musk took over Twitter (now X). For more than one year, Bluesky remained somewhat exclusive as it only accepted invited users to join the app, but it was able to reach two million users regardless.

There were many things to do on Bluesky despite not yet on its public availability, and this includes the similar post, a.k.a. tweet, a feature that focuses on a text-based status post for users. On the other hand, it also delivered the likes of an in-app video and music player for the links shared on the platform, no longer needing to be redirected to another app or website for the experience.

However, despite its decentralized focus, Dorsey seems to disagree with the team and executives of Bluesky, with him, yet again departing from the social media's board, similar to his Twitter resignation.

Despite Dorsey no longer on board, Bluesky forges on to deliver this new social media experience for all, and now, it delivers the ability to message other users on the platform, with a future encrypted experience coming.
