The WWE is a place where just about anything can happen. Sure, most of what usually happens revolves around fighting, but there have been plenty of occasions when the pop culture world has made an appearance in the squared circle.

Celebrities are no strangers to Monday Night Raw, though few would ever expect an aging, about-to-retire news anchor to get involved in a verbal throwdown with one of the company's superstars. But here we are.

For the sake of context: Seth Rollins, a.k.a. Mr. Money in the Bank, took to the ring this past Monday night in order to gloat about being the future of the company (as he is wont to do). A few minutes into his speech, Mr. Rollins came up with the idea to replace Jon Stewart as the host of The Daily Show:

It's the kind of ridiculous, over-the-top acting that fans of the WWE have come to expect, but, as it turns out, Jon Stewart isn't about to let someone bad-mouth his show, even if he is about to retire.

That's right: after getting called out by Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw, Stewart fired back in defense of The Daily Show:

Maybe next time, someone else can write Mr. Stewart's promos. It's close, he almost got it - maybe Jon's just not used to being all that threatening.

Should you expect to see Jon Stewart go up against Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania XXXI? Probably not - that being said, stranger things have happened, like when Jay Leno wrestled Hulk Hogan. Plus, Seth Rollins doesn't have a match set for the year's biggest pay-per-view just yet...and who wouldn't want to see Stewart drop the elbow from the top rope?
