Microsoft is at the Games Developer Conference 2015, and the company is talking a lot about Xbox One and Windows 10. We've long known the software giant had plans for cross-platform play between the Xbox One and Windows 10, but we never knew cross-platform buy would end up being part of the overall package.

At today's presentation, Microsoft made sure to state that it would be up to developers to choose whether or not they support cross-platform play or cross-platform buy. Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, says there are several games that already support these new features, some of which have been announced, while others will be announced at E3.

One of the games that are expected to support cross-platform play is Pinball FX. It's already available on the Xbox One and Windows 8.1 via the app store, but plans are in place to bring the title to Windows 10 to allow for cross-platform play right across the board.

The game also supports cross-platform buy, which means folks who bought the title on the Xbox One, will be able to download it for free on Windows 10 via the store when the operating system is fully available later this year. We should point out that this applies to DLC as well.

Interestingly enough, Microsoft is planning to bring its ID@Xbox program to Windows 10. It means that independent game developers will have the option to bring their titles to the PC, Tablet, and mobile devices. It opens up a whole new market for these developers as they push to increase sales and brand recognition.

With the amount of Xbox One titles being prepared to grace Windows 10, Microsoft is making sure that everyone will be able to enjoy these games. When Windows 10 hits the market, players who do not prefer to game with the keyboard and mouse will finally get the chance to use the official Xbox One controller.

Microsoft has announced the availability of an adapter that will allow players to connect their Xbox One controller to their PC and tablet and game just as how they would on their Xbox One.

Since Satya Nadella took over Microsoft and appointed Phil Spencer as the head of Xbox, the company has been slowly regaining its cool factor.
