Instagram pictures range from posts about food, everyday activities, special events, fitness, and even modeling. Model Sarah Stage, however, used Instragram to her advantage by not only sharing wonderful updates about her life and career but also of her pregnancy.

By combining modeling, baby updates, and the launching of her new maternity line, Stage is making a splash in social media. Her baby bump picture updates are what seems to be causing a bit of a stir online these days.

The 30-year-old Costa Rican and European model based in Los Angeles has recently been on the firing end of unwarranted criticism, as many view her small eight-month baby belly a little disturbing and concerning.

Negative comments range from awed to snarky, and some are just too pessimistic to even read out loud. It's a good thing Stage is keeping a good attitude amid social media criticism.

"I'm just trying to stay positive. It's hard enough to be pregnant. I think all women are beautiful, especially pregnant women," Stage said.

Since we have all been so used to seeing really huge baby bellies, many are curious if Stage's small bump is actually healthy. The model shared in an interview that she had in fact asked her doctor about this. She said many of her girlfriends are pregnant as well but have bigger bellies than hers. Stage candidly shared that her doctor gave her a little chuckle and said that she's doing just fine.

The Mayo Clinic gives us a better explanation of why some baby bumps are not like the others.

"There's no one-size-fits-all approach to pregnancy weight gain. How much weight you need to gain depends on various factors, including your pre-pregnancy weight and body mass index (BMI). Your health and your baby's health also play a role. Work with your health care provider to determine what's right for you," the experts stated.

For the critics who look down on Stage's continued regimen of exercising while pregnant, a spokeswoman of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Laura Riley, advises to stay physically active during pregnancy.

"It has terrific benefits that are associated with a better pregnancy outcome and even shorter labors. It's a win-win for baby and for mom," Dr. Riley said.

Stage believes that mamas-to-be come in all shapes and sizes, and her new maternity line, Want My Look, offers sexy maxi dresses and form-fitting cocktail outfits. As for Stage herself, she continues to proudly show off her pregnant body online, not allowing the trolls and haters to dim down her ecstatic soon-to-be-mommy glow.
