At this point, zombies are played out. Since 28 Days Later introduced running zombies, there hasn't been much in the way of horror innovation - every zombie movie basically falls into one of two categories, and that's it.

If a movie isn't a zombie-horror flick, or a zombie-comedy poking fun at zombie-horror, then it probably doesn't exist.

It's strange to say, but few films have ever explored the human side of a zombie outbreak - in fact, the closest fans of the genre have ever gotten to something like that is the video game The Last of Us.

It's a side of the zombie genre that's typically ignored in favor of big explosions and gore - in Maggie, however, it's the central focus.

On his official Facebook page, Arnold Schwarzenegger said that, "This is the most human zombie film you've ever seen, and it's the most human role you've ever seen me take on."

From the looks of things, he's not far off: Maggie looks like it's completely different from just about everything else in the genre. If the trailer is anything to go by, Maggie could be a quiet, introspective journey into what could happen if a loved one was infected with some sort of zombifying disease - a far cry from the explosions and excess the genre has succumbed to. Take a look:

That being said, this is Arnold Schwarzenegger: even if there's little action in the trailer, it's easy to assume that a movie featuring one of the most recognizable action stars on the planet will have a few set-piece moments. Of course, it might be nice to watch a Schwarzenegger movie where the actor has a little room to flex his acting chops - again, if the final movie is anything like the trailer, it could be a relatively quiet film about a father trying to take care of his daughter.

All in all, the movie looks great so far, and it looks like Maggie will explore the tried-and-true 'zombie outbreak' scenario in a different way than any recent undead apocalypse story. Instead of feeling like another big-budget action flick with zombies in it, Maggie looks like something new - on top of that, Schwarzenegger looks great.

Maggie will debut in theaters on May 8.
