Just Cause 2 was a simple game.

Not that 'simple' is a bad thing by any means: it was a game that knew exactly what it wanted to do, and that was giving players the power to set off more explosions than Michael Bay's entire filmography.

It succeeded with flying colors, and the open-world destruction simulator quickly became a fan favorite. When its sequel, Just Cause 3, was announced earlier this year, fans were eager to see whether or not this new game would do its predecessor justice.

Judging from the first gameplay footage, things are looking good. It's basically just a montage of explosions - which is exactly the sort of thing players are hoping for.

That being said, it's a lot to take in all at once - that's why we took the five most GIF-worthy moments of the new trailer, so that fans can take a moment and truly appreciate the slow-motion beauty all of these different explosions:

The Just Cause 3 gameplay debut trailer was short, but if you think about it, anything longer would have just felt unnecessary. It's highly likely that Avalanche Studios will release a more substantial gameplay demo later on in development (fans should expect something to come out of E3 this June) - but for now, let's just bask in the warm, fiery glow of explosions.
