Netflix is getting a new original series from the creators of The Matrix, and it looks like it is going to be one crazy trip.
Called Sense8, the Wachowskis bring their signature sci-fi style to the small screen this time around. We don't know much about the show: only that eight strangers have been linked together for unknown reasons. These eight men and women can share their thoughts and skills across bodies. Having the abilities of seven other people definitely sounds impressive, which is why a mysterious organization appears to be hunting the eight strangers.
The idea of eight people all sharing their life experiences with one another from across the globe sounds like it has plenty of storytelling potential, but it wouldn't be the Wachowskis if there wasn't some killer action as well. The trailer and images released for the show seem to indicate fans won't be disappointed in that department, as we see plenty of gun fights and brawls.
One character is even seen diving while firing two pistols in true Matrix style. Count us in.
While watching the trailer you may notice a few familiar faces, chief among them Naveen Andrews of Lost fame. Sense8's cast also includes: Brian J. Smith, Tuppence Middleton, Jamie Clayton, Miguel Angel Silvestre, Tina Desai, Doona Bae, Aml Ameen and Max Riemelt. Also, Daryl Hannah, Terrence Mann, Freema Agyeman and Alfonso Herrera.
The entire 12-episode season of Sense8 debuts on Netflix Friday, June 5.
