Owners of the One M7 on Verizon will be glad to know that their device is finally getting the Android Lollipop update. The carrier announced that it has been granted Technical Acceptance for the update on the HTC device.

The announcement, which was made on Twitter, came from Mo Versi, HTC's VP of Product Management. An OTA update is also slated to begin on Thursday, according to Versi.

It should be noted that the rollout for the Lollipop update on the One M7 has been delayed for almost three and a half months, following the originally released target. Sprint and T-Mobile have each rolled out the Lollipop update to their devices earlier this year.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is meant to be rolled out to the One M7 dual-SIM variant. Owners of this HTC device model should expect to receive the said update on their devices anytime soon.

HTC says that the new update will have the build number of 7.117.720.6 and will be around 675MB in size. The upgrade is currently being rolled out to users in India, where some have even reported that they have just received it on their devices. Since the One M7 is sold only in select markets, there was no clear indication whether the update will roll out to other regions.

The Lollipop update for the HTC One M7 handset has features that are pretty much the same as the ones received by its single-SIM variant. These include bug fixes, enhanced security features, Smart Lock, switch to Android ART runtime, new search function within settings, redesigned recent apps, new lock screen and notifications, updated Sense UI with Material Design guidelines and a host of other improvements.

"Verizon HTC One (M7) Owners! Thanks you for your amazing patience. We've received TA on L OS, OTA starting on Thursday," tweeted Versi.

The One M7 is also getting a slew of the new features that are being introduced to the One M9, which was made possible by HTC's core app updates in Google Play.

Users can expect to automatically receive an update notification on their devices as soon as the update becomes available in their region. They can also check manually for the update's availability by going first to Settings and then proceeding to About Phone then System Update.

Owners are advised to make sure the device is Wi-Fi-connected prior to downloading the update in order to avoid being charged for using mobile data.
