Microsoft is releasing an updated Xbox One controller in June that will finally include a new headphone jack. Xbox One controllers currently have no headphone jack, prompting owners to purchase instead a headset adapter in order for them to use their headphones with the controller.

The plan of adding a headphone jack was revealed by the tech company in the Xbox One's support page. According to the announcement, the new 3.5mm audio port will be able to connect any compatible 3.5mm audio devices.

"The controller for the Xbox One has many of the same features as the controller for Xbox 360, plus some new functionality," stated the company.

With this updated version of the Xbox One controller, users don't have to worry about spending an extra $25 for a Stereo Headset Adapter. Moreover, Xbox One users will no longer have to drool over the DualShock controller of Sony's PlayStation 4, which allows its users to connect their audio device through the controller's 3.5mm jack.

The support page also has images of the purported controller. It shows all the familiar features, such as the design and shape, found on the current version. It also shows the presence of a 3.5mm port labeled with the number 16 on the image.

Based on the graphic, the Xbox One controller will have a number of buttons with varying functions. These include the Xbox button, View button, Menu button, Wireless enrollment button and the A,B, X, and Y buttons. It will also have the familiar USB charge port, which allows the user to connect his wireless controller to the console by using a mini USB cable.

The third port is the one called the Expansion port, which lets the user connect other accessories, such as the Chat Headset from Xbox One, to the controller. Other familiar features include the left stick and right stick, left bumper and right bumper, battery compartment cover, directional pad, infrared window, and left trigger and right trigger.

Microsoft is also preparing for its very own E3 press event, which is slated for June 15. It is then speculated that the company may include the updated controller as part of its agenda at the show.

Of course, Microsoft's announcement thrilled some users.

"I seriously can't wait for that 3.5mm jack now. I'll actually be able to use my headset without an adapter. I am saved. (For a while I wore the X1 mic under my A40s...it's probably worse than you'd imagine)," said Cajun.

Another gamer named Zulithe hopes the "After June 2015 version" is also "designed with Windows 10 in mind. Make it the official Windows 10 gamepad, just like the 360 gamepad had been for earlier versions of Windows."
