A great entry-level set-top box that runs Android TV, Nexus Player, is now on sale at Amazon for just $69.99 before taxes and shipping costs. Amazon is giving a $29 discount for the first commercially available Android TV in the market. The package includes the Nexus Player streaming media console, owner's manual, adapter and power plug plus the remote control.

One could purchase a separate gamepad for Nexus Player for $40, engineered for those immersive Android games on the HDTV. Old-school classic Android games are great on the gamepad such as Final Fantasy III, King of Fighters and Pac-man, as well as newer titles like Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 4, Real Boxing, SoulCalibur, The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2. Sky Force 2014 TV and Going Going Gone: HR Classic games are the ones available for the TV Remote games. The remote control links via Bluetooth instead of infrared sensor, meaning there is no need for direct line of sight to communicate commands to the TV box.

Experience more time watching and spend less time for browsing from Google's Nexus Player that has entertainment tailored for its users. BloombergTV, Crackle, Pandora, Netflix, Hulu Plus, iHeartRadio, PlutoTV, and YouTube are among the pre-installed apps dedicated for movies, music, radio, TV content plus more in Google Play. With the voice search feature, user could quickly find TV shows, and favorite movies. Being a Google Cast-ready console, user could easily cast entertainment apps and photos from one's Android mobile devices or laptop to the TV directly.

With Android Lollipop 5.0, the Nexus Player unit is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Intel Atom SoC processor with 1 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 8 GB internal storage, one could transfer from one app to another lightning fast. It could connect via 2x2 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 and features 1 HDMI and 1 micro-USB 2.0 ports. The unit weighs about 1.2 pounds and its dimensions are 16.8 x 11.4 x 8.6 inches.

The options are quite limited for other available Android TV boxes, though NVIDIA has released a more powerful Shield Android TV but it would cost at least $200, so if one is just looking to try out the technology for the first time and is budget conscious, Nexus Player at Amazon is a great choice. There is no timetable available for how long this 29% off deal will last, so make sure to check it out before it is too late.
