Two years ago, EA Games announced the development of a brand new Mirror's Edge, which was set to be a prequel to the original game but made for next-generation consoles. It's being made by DICE, the developer behind the Battlefield games, as well as the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront reboot.

After that announcement, the developer went completely radio silent. No screenshots, footage, or even discussion of the game has seen the light of day since.

Today, EA has indicated that the game will be stepping back into the spotlight at next week's E3. EA also announced that the game's official title is Mirror's Edge: Catalyst.

The name suggests that series heroine Faith may serve as some kind of "catalyst for change" in her futuristic city, which was never named in the first game. One has to wonder how much of change she could spark if Catalyst is still a prequel.

Hopefully we'll learn more about Faith's past and her city in the new game, while getting access to a host of new parkour and fighting abilities. EA Games' E3 press conference is scheduled for Monday, June 15 at 4:00 P.M. Eastern/1:00 P.M. Pacific, and we expect to see and hear much more about Mirror's Edge: Catalyst there.
