AMC's The Walking Dead spinoff is coming in just two months. It's got a six-episode first season (just as the mothership did) and likely 13 episodes or more for its already-ordered second season.

Details have been trickling out about the show slowly, with AMC doing an admirable job of keeping the lid on the twists and turns to come in Fear the Walking Dead. It begins at the outset of the zombie outbreak, depicting the confusion and horror of what unfolded in Los Angeles in those days. The series stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Mercedes Mason, Ruben Blades and more.

The action centers around a high school guidance counselor and single mom, her two teenage kids, a divorced male teacher at that same school and his teenage son, as well as a divorced woman who was living in seclusion prior to the outbreak.

This first teaser trailer, which runs just 30 seconds, stars Frank Dillane as the guidance counselor's son, Nick — a royal screw-up, according to the show's casting sheet — terrified out of his mind and running for his life. Judging by his state of undress, it's not hard to guess what he was up to just moments before the clip begins.

It's an effective little promo, don't you think? This is a person laying eyes on zombies, aka "walkers," for the first time ever, in a world where zombies have never existed. You get the feeling that zombies — who are said to have a different look on this show, due to being in the earliest stages of infection — are always right on the outside edge of the frame, always just about to appear on screen.

Fear the Walking Dead premieres on an unannounced date in August 2015.
