Video-conferencing saves time and money when company officials want to organize meetings. People in different geographic regions can conveniently sit in a local room and connect to others across multiple locations.

Google, for its part, has upgraded Chromebox for meetings, which has a price tag of $1,999. The new Chromebox for meetings will support more monitors and microphones.

Chromebox is a desktop version of Chromebook and runs on the Chrome operating system. In February 2014, Google launched Chromebox for meetings to allow effective video-conferencing for company executives in various locations.

The Chrome operating system has relatively low hardware requirements in comparison to other platforms, and it can also run efficiently on slow processors. The original Chromebox for meetings had a price tag of $999. However, on Wednesday, June 24, Google announced an upgraded Chromebox for meeting that will be available for double the cost of the original Chromebox for meetings. However, the cost includes first-year management and support fees.

"Expanding Chromebox for meetings to larger rooms continues to improve Whirlpool Corporation's face-to-face collaboration across our global meeting rooms, and with the price point and simple installation, we're able to bring room-to-room video conferencing to many more people," said Troy McKim, senior manager of Collaboration at Whirlpool Corporation.

The latest Chromebox for meetings will provide the same face-to-face video-conferencing functionality but it will support larger rooms. The new hardware will include a new camera that will deliver quality video for bigger conferences.

The new setup will include an extra speaker and microphone for capturing conversations in longer rooms. The latest hardware will also allow support for dual screen. Users will have the option to connect two monitors at once to the camera as well as the speakers and microphone.

Groups of up to 20 people can connect to colleagues in different locations, while the previous version of Chromebox for meetings allowed only eight people to connect.

The new Chromebox for meetings will also offer a full-screen mode that will result in better presentations.

The meeting administrator will also get more control options. Administrators will have the option to check the well-being of a specific Chromebox remotely.

Google has also revealed its plan to expand Chromebox for meetings in additional locations in the latter part of the year.
