Capcom had better make it up to the annoyed gamers who signed up for Street Fighter V beta only to be bombarded with several mishaps and server shutdowns.

Street Fighter V beta has been down since Sunday when Capcom took it off the servers for the second time as it appears the game is unable to handle the huge number of players trying to log in at the same time. Capcom made a Twitter announcement on early morning Monday that Street Fighter V will continue to be down on Monday as its engineers continue to work on optimizing the servers to allow everybody to play.

Of course, all these problems experienced by Street Fighter V beta, which was initially scheduled for six days from July 23 until July 28 only means Capcom has to appease its customers and offer an extension of the beta, that is, if it can fix the issues that are bogging down its servers at the moment.

The first shutdown took place on Saturday, July 25, when Capcom announced that it will be resetting its servers to allow players who were unable to log in since the start of beta testing on Thursday last week. Although the servers soon went back up after the reset, it was not long before the game began experiencing the same glitches once again.

"We apologize for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the Street Fighter V beta test," Capcom said at the time. "In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users."

Beta testing is supposed to end on Tuesday, but Capcom has promised to extend beta for a yet unspecified period of time.

Although Capcom appears to want beta testers to be happy, the company does have its own reasons to extend beta testing beyond July 28 as Street Fighter V will use a new currency system and a location-tracking algorithm that will match players against others in place of the usual feature to invite friends or share the game with others.

Street Fighter V beta is currently available only on the PlayStation 4. The game's official version is expected for release for the PS4 and PC on March 2016.
