Mashups and fan-made trailers are all the rage these days... but not all of them work. For every Alien vs. Predator, there's an Eminem Meets the Punisher. Sometimes, no matter how badly you want to see your two favorite characters meet up, it's just not meant to be. Of course, there are always the pairings that seem to make no sense, and yet — when the crossover happens, it's pure gold.

For example: Chris Farley and Mission Impossible. At face value, there's seemingly nothing to connect these two subjects: Chris Farley was known for slapstick humor, Mission Impossible is known for Tom Cruise and ridiculously dangerous stunt work. How in the world could anyone possible combine these two things into something watchable, let alone wonderful?

One YouTuber by the name of Todd Spence set out to answer that question. It seemed like an impossible task (pun not intended), but somehow, Spence did it: he merged Chris Farley with Mission Impossible... and the results are absolutely amazing.

Chris Farley in Mission Impossible is one of those videos which, once you're done watching, you'll just sit there and stare at the screen. It's not that the video isn't well done (it's a fantastic example of editing), it's just that the core idea is so outright bizarre that you'll be stuck wondering how anyone even came up with it in the first place.

It's almost a shame that the video is so good: now, fans of Chris Farley are left wondering just how amazing the Mission Impossible franchise could have been if they'd included him from the start. Think about it: how amazing would it have been if all that motorcycle-flipping nonsense from Mission Impossible 2 was done by Chris Farley instead of Tom Cruise?

Sadly, an official crossover is impossible — though you could always just watch Tommy Boy and Mission Impossible side-by-side at the same time... if your brain can handle it, that is.

For those who simply want to see the vanilla version of Tom Cruise's latest action flick, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation is in theaters now.
