Fujitsu has launched the Arrows NX F-04G, a flagship-level smartphone that is the very first one to be released into the market with an embedded iris scanner.

Mobile phone news website Phone Arena said that it was impressed with the device when it tested a working prototype of the Arrows NX F-04G at the Mobile World Congress held in early March in Barcelona, Spain.

In terms of using the technology, it "blows fingerprint scanners out of the water," Phone Arena wrote, with the embedded iris scanner recognizing the device's user so quickly that there is barely any time to notice that the technology is already working to check if the person holding the smartphone is its owner.

The iris scanner is embedded at the top bezel of the smartphone, near the area where users would expect a selfie camera to be located. This is also the only component of the Arrows NX F-04G that is constructed out of aluminum.

The Arrows NX F-04G, however, is not only relying on the new iris scanning technology on a smartphone to propel the device's sales. The smartphone also has flagship-level specifications, beginning with an octa-core, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with an Adreno 430 GPU and powered by 3GB of RAM.

The smartphone packs in a 5.2-inch quad HD display with pixel resolution of 1,440 by 2,560, with the screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3 technology. The screen displays 565 pixels per inch, resulting in ultra-crisp images.

The device also has an internal memory capacity of 32GB, with the option to expand the memory through a microSD card slot. The battery of the Arrows NX F-04G stores up to 3,120 mAh, while the cameras of the Arrows NX F-04G are a 20.7MP rear-facing camera with Sony's Exmor sensor and a 2.4MP front-facing camera.

In addition to all the great features that the smartphone has inside the hood, the Arrows NX F-04G is also IP68-certified for waterproof capabilities. The device also has LTE Advanced connectivity compatibility, quick charging technology, 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and MHL support.

The Arrows NX F-04G is commanding a price of about $750 in full retail, although to purchase the device, customers have to be locally subscribed to DoCoMo.
