Fans of OnePlus will be eager to learn that come Christmas, they will be able to lay their hands on the next-gen OnePlus smartphone and we don't mean the OnePlus 2.

This is no rumor and the news comes straight from the horse's mouth i.e. the company's co-founder Carl Pei who spilled the beans in an interview to USA Today.

When quizzed about the next smartphone from OnePlus, Pei let on that it would be in 2015 itself. However, Pei did not reveal which handset would be launched by OnePlus by the end of 2015 simply letting on that it would be "amazing."

"There's going to be a second phone this year, before the end of the year. Hopefully for Christmas," let on Pei.

He also stayed mysterious and simply said that the second phone "may or may not be (higher spec'd than the OnePlus 2)."

Rumors are rife that the company is poised to take the wraps off the OnePlus Mini smartphone and 25-year-old Pei could possibly be hinting at the device. The OnePlus Mini does not tout high-end specs when compared to the OnePlus 2.

Pei was also asked if OnePlus intends on venturing into any other sphere and launch devices apart from phones to which he replied that the company envisioned working in tandem with "everyone as partners." This could possibly mean that OnePlus is considering foraying into the tablet and wearable space in the near term.

OnePlus apparently worked on a fitness tracker; however, the project was abandoned as it was against the company's "open culture."

Future endeavors for the company include making the OxygenOS compatible with other devices. However, you are unlikely to see a OnePlus TV as the company does not abide by the philosophy of simply enhancing its portfolio in a bid to lure consumers. OnePlus abides by the belief that "different brands should focus on different things" if they want to be the best in their respective field.

With the OnePlus One selling over a million models, the company would be hoping that its next handset can replicate - if not better - the success of the smartphone. With the mysterious smartphone aiming a holiday season release, OnePlus would be able to cash-in on the traffic.
