OnePlus 2 has teamed up with eBay's Giving Works to auction off 100 global OnePlus 2 invites on eBay for charity. You can avail of this for five days, starting on Aug. 5, according to the OnePlus 2 blog. Today, 50 OnePlus 2 invites will be auctioned off, followed by another 50 tomorrow.

Not only is this a chance to get one of those sought-after OnePlus 2 invites, but it is for a very good cause as well. All proceeds will go to the UNICEF Tap Project, which ensures that underprivileged children worldwide get access to clean, safe drinking water. Apparently, as little as $1 can ensure clean water for a kid for up to 40 days. This means that your dollar will really have an impact on many children's lives.

OnePlus 2 invites are incredibly sought after, so it's likely that quite a sum of money will be made for the UNICEF Tap Project this way. The reservation list for OnePlus 2 has reportedly reached nearly 2 million names. That truly is impressive. Good to know there is a chance now to legally skip that queue for the next few days, provided you have the cash since prices are bound to go up.

What are the reasons behind this move by OnePlus? According to the company, "we've seen some people selling their OnePlus invites on third-party websites. While this is technically not violating any rules, we don't think that it is very fair to our fans or in the spirit of what we're trying to create. If we can't beat them, we thought, let's join them."

A logical move. It's likely not the only reason for this special eBay campaign, though. Teaming up for charity like that and further stoking the hype around the OnePlus 2 invites are a smart marketing move as well.

You can jump straight to eBay, contribute to the good cause and start bidding on a 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus 2.
