Remember the epic first two Ghostbusters with the ever amazing Bill Murray? Bill Murray so convincingly portrayed the character of Dr. Peter Venkman in the 1984 "Ghostbusters" and the 1989 sequel "Ghostbusters II" that we simply couldn't get enough of him. Sadly though he then outright refused -publicly and more than once- to sign up for a potential third Ghostbusters movie. However, the impossible might have happened now though, as it seems the legendary actor has softened and will at least make a cameo appearance on the Ghostbusters remake that is said to hit the theatres in July of 2016.

The actor who is known to be extremely hard to contact and extremely hard to convince to take up a cameo role reportedly agreed to turn up for the third part of the Ghostbusters franchise which will star a female cast. As a note of warning though: These rumors though substantial are not officially verified yet so all you Bill Murray fans out there: don't rejoice too early.

Dan Aykroyd already confirmed his cameo appearance on the upcoming Ghostbusters. This, though excellent news of course, does not come as a surprise though as he has always talked enthusiastically about another Ghostbusters remake.

Bill Murray however has famously spurned Ghostbusters on the Letterman show several times, calling the mere thought of having a third Ghostbusters "crazy talk" and then just a few months ago claiming on the Letterman Show, "The studio has always wanted to make another one because they can't come up with any other ideas."

Bill Murray is generally hard to get a hold of and famous for only joining projects he is really excited about and after being asked many times, so if he said yes to showing up for Ghostbusters III,  he really must believe in the script and cast.

Director Paul Feig is stirring the Ghostbusters mania already in any case: head on over to his twitter (https://mobile.twitter.com/paulfeig?p=s) to see for yourself and get your excitement up; no matter whether the beloved Bill Murray will actually make his much anticipated cameo and strap on a proton pack as Dr. Peter Venkman or not. The movie is set to be fun with the actresses Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon on board.
