Star Wars fans know that Sandcrawlers are the vehicle of choice to climb the dunes of Tatooine. While you could easily buy your very own official Sandcrawler LEGO set as seen in Star Wars: A New Hope, two LEGO superfans went on a quest to create their own custom-made vessel that includes more than 10,000 pieces.

Taking more than 500 hours to complete, LEGO enthusiasts Jarren Harkema and Calvin Hartley built their very own Sandcrawler that is three feet long and weighs 28 pounds. While the official LEGO set includes over 3,200 pieces, the two built theirs with over 10,000 LEGO blocks. The best part of this creation is that it can actually be driven around thanks to its LEGO Technics tracks.

Harkema and Hartley revealed their massive Sandcrawler at Chicago Brickworld 2015, the LEGO event held in June, where it was nominated for Best Mechanical Creation.

The Sandcrawler is equipped with nine motors, with each track independently powered, as well as an elevator that allows the Jawas to go up and down inside the vehicle, a conveyor belt and a droid lift that comes down to grab the droid just like what fans see in the movie.

While the LEGO Sandcrawler does pay homage to Star Wars: A New Hope, fans might notice that the vehicle is not the standard dark maroon color. Still, the Sandcrawler captures these LEGO enthusiasts' own creative imprint and is full of fun Star Wars and LEGO Easter Eggs inside.
