The official announcement of Orlando Bloom's comeback appearance in the 2017 film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was made at the D23 Expo event.

While Bloom himself was not present at the event, his co-star Johnny Depp was able to come up on stage, dressed in the character of Jack Sparrow. He amused the crowd by making jokes and throwing grapes just like every typical drunk pirate does.

Bloom, who was one of the main heroes in the film, was missed by fans when his character was not included in the 2011's movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Prior to the film's debut in the theaters, Bloom said in an interview that his days as Will Turner have reached its end.

"I had a great time making those movies," said Bloom. "I just really wanted to do different things, but I think it's going to be great. Whatever Johnny does, I think it's fantastic."

The first three installments of the movie were all directed by Gore Verbinski while the fourth installment where Bloom's character was missing was directed by Rob Marshall. In the film's upcoming fifth installment, both Bloom and Depp will be meeting different directors identified as Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

The film will feature other notable stars such as Golshifteh Farahani, Brenton Thwaites, Kayla Scodelario and Javier Bardem. Apart from Bloom, stars such as Stephen Graham, Kevin R. McNally and Geoffrey Rush are also reprising their roles as Scrum, Gibbs and Barbossa respectively.

According to the film's blog page, the new adventure-filled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will show Captain Jack Sparrow to be running out of luck as he "finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea... including him."

In order to survive, Captain Jack needed to find the so-called Trident of Poseidon, an artifact filled with the strange power of bestowing upon its owner full control of the seas.

The movie's filming was wrapped up last week in Australia. The film, which is set to hit the theaters on July 7, 2017, will also feature the screenwriting prowess of Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 1 & 2).
